Ikatan Alumni Bahasa Inggris Unila (Ikabila) was inaugurated on 9th August, 2015.  Dr. Muhammad Fuad, Vice Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Dr. Ari Nurweni, M.A., the Head of English Department, lecturers, and 40 alumni attended this inauguration.

In the Dean’s opening speech, he expressed his joy on seeing alumni coming back to Unila campus and welcomed everyone to continue to support Unila, especially the English Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. He then ended his speech by saying “I’m looking forward to seeing you some time in the future as one of our big donors.”  In addition, the Head of the English Department, Nurweni, shared with everyone on the improvement and current situation of the English Department.

 “The English Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Unila has been a part of our lives for many years, rushing for classes and sleepless nights during examination week…” remarked by Dr. Gunadi, President of Ikabila  “…After graduating from Unila, we began our new journey in the society.  Now, we are still part of the English Department with the establishment of Ikabila.  We will also create our own website for Ikabila as a place to publish our activities. As we all spread out into different regencies and provinces around Indonesia, let us continue to stay connected.”  He wishes to contribute himself to his Alma Mater. He hopes all alumni should be proud of Unila, especially the English Department.

On the day of inauguration, some alumni working in different fields of work were invited to share their experiences and insights to all alumni and lecturers. Around forty participants learned a lot of knowledge from their experiences.

Ikatan Alumni Bahasa Inggris Unila (Ikabila) has some missions including: to promote the interest and welfare of the English Department and its alumni, to encourage positive relationships among alumni, to offer spiritual, social, and lifelong learning opportunities, and to establish an alumni network.
